CANADA

Source:Rustin Oree The Naparima Alumni Association of Canada (NAAC) is the longest, continuously operating Trinidadian Alumni Association in Canada. We are based in Toronto and have been operating since about 1972. The association's membership is drawn from past students and teachers of the seven post-primary Presbyterian Schools in Trinidad: Naparima College (NC), Naparima Girls' High School (NGHS), Naparima Teachers' Training College (NTC), St. Andrew's Theological College, Iere High School, St. Augustine Girls' High School and Hillview College. Our aims and objects are to provide financial assistance as required to the schools and students in Trinidad and to promote the Trinidadian culture in the wider Canadian community. To this end we promote and support 3 steelband programs in High Schools in the Toronto area at which steelband classes are free to the general public. We also have a performing steelband made up of graduates from these programs.
